Hija del Volcán

01 / From The Field

Dear Islander,

I wanted the first Field Note to begin here, in Las Canteras.

Today I spent the afternoon on the beach with my old digi cam; filming, shooting, editing, and collecting little pieces of the island for the first Isla Noir chapter.

Sea, promenade, product shots, family moments, my sister wearing the samples, and that feeling of being somewhere that makes the whole brand make more sense.

It reminded me why I wanted to build a surfwear world in the first place.

02 / Las Canteras Rhythm

Las Canteras has always had this energy I love. It is not just a beach you visit for a few hours. It is woven into daily life. People swim, surf, walk, train, meet friends, get coffee, sit in the sun, go back into the city, then return to the water again.

That rhythm is the feeling behind the Las Canteras Capsule.

Pieces made for the way island days actually move: between sea and shore, swim and street, sun and shade, product and memory.

03 / Sample Notes

This trip has felt especially full circle. Coming back to my childhood home has made everything feel more meaningful somehow — family, the island, and this brand I’m building now. Seeing my sister wearing the samples every day has only added to that feeling.

She has been living in the Volcán Long Sleeve Performance Tee for extra coverage on high-UV beach days, which felt like the ultimate use of the piece. That is what I want Isla Noir to be: not just something that looks good in a campaign, but something you reach for in real life.

Today she also shot some digi photos of me in the short sleeve, which took me straight back to when we were younger and used to do little photoshoots for fun. It felt sweet and nostalgic to be on our island together, building a world we can both be part of.

Hija del Volcán / Vol. 001 / From the field

Before this trip, I started building the first Isla Noir playlist: Hija del Volcán.

It opens with a recent song that feels deeply connected to the island, to tradition, and to the strange emotional pull of coming back and staying true to your roots.

The rest of the playlist moves through old favourites, island memories, and Spanish nostalgia; accompanied by tracks from the London chapter that shaped my creative world, and tunes that transport me back to golden days in New Zealand and Hawaii.

I'm excited to share it with you — It feels like the beginning of the Isla Noir sound world.

05 / Before the First Drop

There has been a lot to collect and organise. But mostly, it has felt natural and aligned, like the brand is becoming something I can see, hear, wear, and share.

For now, this is the first note from the island — a small piece of Las Canteras before the first drop.

From the field,

Alexandra

P.S. As I finished writing this, it was 22:22.
